Can pallet rack be welded? Why the answer requires an approved rack-specific procedure
A weld can change heat-affected material, load paths, connections, coating, geometry, and system documentation. A person who can weld is not automatically authorized to design a rack repair.

Do not weld pallet rack because a crack, tear, hole, bracket, or replacement part appears repairable. Separate welding skill from repair design

The package may need rack and component identity, material information, preparation, joint detail, filler, welding process, position, heat input or other controls, welder qualification, access, unloading or temporary support, distortion control, coating repair, acceptance criteria, inspection method, and stop conditions. The responsible technical party defines what applies.
A generic sketch, social-media example, verbal vendor statement, or procedure for a different rack is not location-specific approval. Verify the actual manufacturer, series, component, configuration, load, damage, and project conditions.
Inspect, document, and prevent recurrence
Retain the approved design and procedure, welder and inspector records, work permit, location, before-and-after evidence, inspection results, updated drawings or rack register, labels if changed, and written return-to-service authorization.
Investigate why the repair was needed and whether protection, aisle geometry, handling, load control, configuration governance, corrosion environment, or inspection requires change. If substitute components are involved, use the component-compatibility gate.
